Several bandits have been neutralised following a coordinated security operation by the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army in forest areas of Kogi State.
The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the development in a statement issued by its spokesperson, CSP William Ovye Aya, who described the operation as successful. According to him, the joint raid led to the flushing out of criminal elements, the disruption of their networks, and the neutralisation of several bandits.
Aya said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore security across the state.
He appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report anyone observed with gunshot wounds, suspicious injuries, or unusual behaviour to the nearest police station, noting that such signs could indicate fleeing criminals.
The police spokesperson further urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information about the movement or presence of suspected criminals in their communities.
“Security is a shared responsibility. With the cooperation of residents, we can sustain these gains and make our communities safer,” Aya stated.
He also released emergency contact lines for residents to report security concerns, listing the Control Room numbers as 07038329084 and 08152195982.
The police assured that operations would continue until criminal activities in the state are completely curtailed.
