Pastor Chris Okafor has narrated his ordeal in the hands of kidnappers, describing his 58-day captivity as a harrowing experience he believes he survived by faith.
Speaking during a church service, the cleric said he was subjected to repeated gunfire during the attack that led to his abduction. According to him, despite the intensity of the shooting, he emerged without any physical injury.
“They shot repeatedly. It was chaotic, like a war situation. Yet, not a single bullet penetrated my body,” Okafor told his congregation, attributing his survival to divine protection.
The pastor further revealed that throughout his captivity, he was kept blindfolded and restrained with chains, with very little clothing. He said the conditions were degrading and physically exhausting, adding that the experience tested him mentally and spiritually.
In a startling claim, Okafor alleged that on three occasions, the kidnappers transported him and another captive—identified as a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly—in the boot of a vehicle during armed confrontations with security operatives. He said they were chained and blindfolded during these movements, unsure if they would survive each encounter.
Okafor said his faith sustained him throughout the ordeal, repeatedly referencing scripture as his source of strength and hope while in captivity.
