Kalu Claims Recent Insecurity Is Politically Motivated

Former Abia State governor and Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has attributed the recent wave of violent attacks, k!llings and abd#ctions across the country to political motives.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV, Kalu alleged that some politicians are sponsoring bandits to destabilise the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He claimed that the same pattern was used to frustrate former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to him, the surge in insecurity is tied to election-season power struggles.

“What we are seeing is always a routine… When you have an election, people will try to pressure the government in power for all kinds of things to start happening,” he said.

Kalu further alleged that both local actors and some members of the international community are involved.

“The terrorists and the bandits are orchestrated by some members of the international community and local people who want to destabilise the government.”

He, however, did not reveal the identities of the alleged sponsors.

Kalu insisted that the intention behind the renewed attacks is to make Tinubu fail, adding that the pattern mirrors what he believes occurred during Jonathan’s administration.
