Adamawa Government Approves Sale Of 1,000 Housing Units To Civil Servants

Civil Servants to Acquire Homes at ₦9m and ₦11m in Malkohi Estate

The Adamawa State Government has approved the sale of 1,000 housing units at the State Housing Estate, Malkohi, Yola South Local Government Area.

The project, which had stalled for years due to inflation and economic setbacks, is now being revived and completed under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
At a press briefing in Yola on Thursday, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, who also chaired the committee on the project, described the development as a major breakthrough in addressing the housing needs of civil servants.

He disclosed that the approved prices are ₦9,706,195.47 for two-bedroom flats and ₦11,708,194.59 for three-bedroom flats.
“The committee worked diligently to ensure transparency and fairness in the allocation process. Offer letters will be distributed soon to beneficiaries as directed by His Excellency,” the commissioner assured.
Hon. Prambe further announced that Governor Fintiri approved new facilities beyond the original master plan, including perimeter fencing of the estate, security outposts and a barracks, and modern drainage systems.

He extended gratitude to the governor on behalf of Adamawa people, saying the project is proof of the administration’s commitment to improving welfare.

Managing Director of the Adamawa State Mortgage Bank, Dauda Mohammed Galadima, revealed that funding support is being sought from the Family Homes Fund and the Federal Mortgage Bank. The arrangement, he said, will allow workers to domicile salaries with the bank and make flexible monthly payments.

Also, Dr. Nyalas Batholomew, a labour union representative, commended Governor Fintiri for prioritizing workers’ welfare, stressing that affordability analysis was central to the allocation process.
“Any worker who can afford the scheme will be given the opportunity to own a home,” Dr. Batholomew affirmed.
