UNIZIK bans final year students ‘signing off’ celebration

No more sign off celebration for UNIZIK graduates!

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has officially prohibited all “signing off” celebrations for final-year students, citing repeated incidents of chaos and disruptions linked to such events

The university explained that the presence of unauthorized individuals during these celebrations posed risks to the safety of students, staff, and the broader campus community. Management said the ban is aimed at maintaining order and ensuring the security of everyone on campus.

Students who organize or participate in any form of “signing off” activities risk strict disciplinary measures, including possible rustication. Outsiders caught taking part in these events on campus may also face arrest and prosecution.

UNIZIK urged students to focus on their academic responsibilities and report any misconduct or threats to safety to the proper authorities. The move aligns with similar steps taken by other Nigerian universities to curb disruptive and unsafe celebratory practices.

Students are advised to stay updated through official university communications for further guidance.
