The Imo State Police Command has killed three unknown gunmen who attempted to attack the Njaba Police divisional headquarters but were repelled by the swift response of the force.
The Police recovered one general-purpose machine gun, one AK-47 rifle and others.
A press release from the public relations officer of the command, ASP Henry Okoye informed that the force had on September 15 repelled an attack on the Njaba Divisional Headquarters by hoodlums suspected to be affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and its armed militia, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The press statement revealed that the attackers arrived in three SUVs, cars and launched a violent assault on the headquarters with sporadic gunfire.
In response, the operatives swiftly took up defensive positions and engaged the assailants, resulting in the neutralization of three attackers.
The release further revealed that the remaining assailants, who sustained various gunshot injuries, fled into nearby bushes as the command during the operation, recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles including a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza
