Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, on Friday undertook a major rescue mission after a truck loaded with food items overturned on its side while heading towards the Ojota area of Lagos.

The accident involved an unregistered Volvo truck and resulted in injuries to the driver and five passengers, including three women.

LASTMA officials swiftly responded to the scene and successfully rescued the victims.

The agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq said, “Our officers were quick to the scene to manage the incident, which occurred due to the truck’s brake failure while at high speed.”

Zebra Bakare Akanbi of LASTMA Zone 11, Ojota/Fadeyi confirmed that the injured persons were rescued with the support of other security agents, and immediately handed over the injured persons to the Lagos State Ambulance Services personnel present at the scene for medical attention.

LASTMA’s Director of Traffic Incidents, Event Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance, Hakeem Adeosun, who was also at the scene coordinated the efforts to clear the accident site.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Oki, expressed his sympathy to the victims and advised all motorists, particularly those operating heavy trucks to conduct thorough safety checks before embarking on journeys to prevent such unfortunate incidents
