Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed Ibrahim Isa, a seasoned journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), as the Director-General of the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC).

Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who announced the governor’s decision, stated that the position takes effect immediately.

He added that Isa’s remarkable track record spans over two decades in various capacities, including reporter, producer, newsreader, TV host, and media manager.

Njodi stated that Governor Inuwa expressed confidence in Isa’s leadership, believing that his wealth of experience will bolster GMC’s growth and enhance its capacity to provide the public with accurate and timely information.

In addition to Isa’s appointment, Governor Inuwa has also elevated Ishiyaku Babayo Mohammed from the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Development Partners Coordination to Special Adviser on the same portfolio.

The SSG noted that the decision reflects Mohammed’s outstanding achievements, exceptional commitment, and effectiveness demonstrated during his tenure as SSA.
