In response to an alleged blasphemy incident that triggered unrest in Sabon Garin Alhaji Yahuza Village, Batagarawa LGA, Katsina State, Police Commissioner Aliyu Abubakar Musa convened a crucial meeting on Thursday with state and religious leaders, aiming to address the situation and promote peace.
Musa during the meeting, implored the leaders to call on their followers to embrace peace and be peace ambassadors at all levels while calling on the general public to continue to be law-abiding and avoid taking laws into their own hands.
The incident, sparked by a Facebook post by Mani Habu Abubakar, alias Sadi, led to a protest where Abubakar’s residence and vehicle were set ablaze. Swift police intervention prevented further escalation.
Assuring the public of ongoing investigations to apprehend those responsible, Musa reiterated the commitment of the Katsina State Police Command to maintaining peace and order.
He avowed that enhanced security measures, including increased police presence and community engagement initiatives, have been implemented to prevent potential disruptions in the area.
He assured that detectives are actively pursuing various leads to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the dastardly act, as he further reiterated that the command remains committed to preserving peace, law and order while ensuring the safety of the citizens of Katsina State.
