No fewer than 100 pupils of St David Anglican primary school, Ijomu, Akure, the Ondo State capital have been affected with the rainstorm that destroyed nine classrooms in the school.

The rainstorm, which occurred Monday evening, blew off roofs of buildings in the school to the Oke-Ijebu main road.

The incident which was said to have happened around 6:00 p.m, on Monday caused gridlock within the axis due to the debris on the road.

The storm also ruined the equipment on the school’s playing field and tore branches off nearby trees.

The school’s headteacher, Princess Feyisola Otetubi, expressed dismay over the occurrence and described it regrettable.

Otetubi urged the ondo state government to act quickly to save the school because there was no other location for the students to be kept while they were learning owing to the rainstorm’s devastation.

Also, the chairman PTA in Akure South local government, Mr Kole Ibitoye who thanked God that the rainstorm did not strike during school hours, called on the state government to embark on full renovation of the school.

He stated that there was little the parents could do to rescue the situation
