Gershom Bassey, Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District, has confirmed the existence of an impeachment plot against President Muhammadu Buhari, Charmingpro reports
Bassey told journalists in Calabar yesterday that the emphasis should not yet be on impeachment, which is the second part of the notice to the President.
He stated that the first part of their threat is to persuade the President to act quickly within six weeks.
“I believe the media has missed the point of our protest.” The goal is to ensure our country’s safety and security. It is not yet impeachment, but rather to ensure Nigeria’s safety and security. That is why we have set a 6-week deadline for the executive, particularly Mr. President, to act on security in our country.
“Our best hope is that the President will react to what we are saying and doing.” And by the end of six weeks, everything would be in order.
“Part one, rather than part two, should be the focus.” Part two occurs when we fail to complete Part One.
“In other words, if there is continued insecurity without the type of response that we expect within these weeks, we will proceed to part two, which is the actual impeachment process.”
