The police in Delta State’s Ovwian/Aladja Division, in collaboration with some human rights activists, rescued a physically abused young boy Charmingpro reportsÂ
Naomi Esther Batubum, the victim’s mother, was also arrested for allegedly beating and inflicting bodily harm on him.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 22 at Otor-Udu in Delta State’s Udu Local Government Area.
Charmingpro has learned that the victim has been hospitalized.
The suspect allegedly tied her son to an electric pole, beat him with an iron and a cutlass, and pepper-laced the wounds she inflicted on him.
In a statement sent to Charmingpro, Israel Joe, Secretary of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, disclosed this.
“Today, July 22nd, a report from a Facebook follower got to our very comrade Israel Joe on how a woman in Otor-Udu tied up her son on an electric poll, beat him up with iron and cutlass, and rubbed the child with pepper all over all the injury she inflicted on him,” he said.
“The comrade immediately called the Ovwian/Aladja DPO CSP Shaba, who then detailed a truck of Policemen along with a few comrades, arrested Naomi Esther Batubum, and the child was rescued.”
“The perpetrator is now being held at the police station, and the child has been taken to the hospital.” Thank you to everyone on social media who kept bringing these issues to our attention.
